Book Review: Drive Me Home (Drive Me #3) by Carly

From the moment I cracked open Drive Me Home, I knew I was in for a treat. Carly has consistently woven intricate stories that blend romance with a delightful cast of characters, but this finale took the cake! As a massive fan of slow-burn romances and adrenaline-pumping sports themes, my heart raced in anticipation for Lucas and Charlotte’s story. After following their journey of friendship since the beginning of this series, I was more than ready for them to finally get together.

Review Body

At its core, Drive Me Home is about love, self-discovery, and the challenges that come with both. Carly’s portrayal of Lucas and Charlotte’s relationship is beautifully done, emphasizing how relationships often grow in the most unexpected ways. I loved how Lucas made Charlotte feel like “the luckiest girl alive,” which is embodied in the simple gestures that signal an unwavering bond. The way he supports her through her Type 1 diabetes management blends romance with real-world issues in a respectful, gentle manner. It’s evident that Lucas respects Charlotte’s autonomy while still being that strong, protective figure we all secretly crave.

This book is the ultimate slow burn, and while I yearned for their romantic connection to ignite sooner, the wait only made their moments together more worthwhile. I found myself laughing and gasping at their banter, with the tension palpably building until it finally erupted in those gloriously spicy moments scattered throughout the chapters. The dual POV gave me the chance to see into both characters’ minds, making their experiences all the more rich and relatable.

Carly’s writing is sharp and engaging, and I felt like I was traveling the world alongside their friend group. I truly enjoyed the camaraderie and support among them, which added layers to the story. The pacing was perfectly balanced, with each chapter pulling me further into the story. Yet, I couldn’t shake the feeling that once Lucas and Charlotte finally got together, I was left wanting more.

A few quotes stood out to me, resonating deeply with my own experiences and emotions—like when Lucas confesses, “I like you, Charlotte Grace Walker. I like you so damn much that somewhere along the way, I fell in love with you.” Moments like these captured not just the essence of their journey but the very real struggles of vulnerability and acceptance that many can relate to. And let’s not forget the dizzying rush of those electric kisses that haunted Lucas. I felt my heart racing right along with him!

As I close this chapter on the Drive Me series, I can’t help but feel a twinge of sadness. These characters have felt like friends, and I’ll miss their adventures together. If you’re a fan of sports romances or enjoy a beautifully crafted slow burn, this book—and indeed the entire series—should be on your TBR. Carly has created an enchanting world filled with love, friendship, and deeply moving moments. Drive Me Home left me feeling uplifted and reminded of the power of relationships in our lives. I can’t recommend it enough!
